How is the provider responding to the child?
She is following the child’s lead by asking the child questions about what color blocks she would like to choose and waiting to see what the child chooses and what she does with the blocks. She understands that the child wants to use orange blocks and supports the child in finding the orange blocks to use.
What does the provider do to support the child’s understanding of colors?
She names the colors of the blocks the child is grabbing and asks her to say the color without quizzing the child. She naturally builds it into the activity the child has chosen.
How is the provider supporting language development in both English and Spanish?
She is allowing the child to use either language and asking her to repeat the color word in English. This allows the child to feel comfortable using either language. The provider also uses both languages.
