Biting – A Fact Sheet

Biting is a typical behavior for many toddlers. Some reasons for biting include: teething, frustration with communication because language is still developing, and anger. When responding to a child who is biting, it is important to acknowledge their feelings and possible reasons for biting and model words that they could use to appropriately express their feelings rather than biting.
