How is the provider encouraging literacy development?
She is holding the baby so the book it at his level. She is encouraging the infant to look at the images and showing him how to turn pages.
How is the provider encouraging autonomy for the infants?
She is allowing the child to handle the book and attempt to turn pages. She asks “do you want to go to the next page”. This is giving the infant cues that they are important to the literacy process.
In what way is the provider making the infant feels safe and comfortable. Why is this important to literacy development?
She is holding the child securely in her lap, she is talking softly, and she is encouraging the infant. Feeling safe and secure is one of the most important factors in any development. Only when a child feels safe and secure can their brains fully develop. For more about brain development see the brain development link.
