It is important for the provider to communicate with all families in a way that is convenient for each family. A greeting at the door is the one of the best ways to open dialogue either at drop off of pick up. Some parents do not have much time to chat but acknowledging them makes a great way to open positive connection. There are several ways to communicate without face to face contact. Newsletters either weekly or monthly help parents to keep up on the busy life of their children at daycare. Sending notes or text messages to the parents when issues have arisen or if something is needed. A bulletin board for parents to peek at when they arrive or depart can also help keep parents informed. I personally like to use text messaging that way the message can reach the parents and the provider can see when the message is received to ensure communication is working.
