When divergent thinking we should come of with many ways to use a specific item or material. Think of multiple uses for the item and what could it possibly mean.

When selecting materials and toys to offer to the children think about open-ended materials that allow children to be creative in their play.

Providers should also play with the children and encourage their creativity and imaginations to explore and try new experiences. Offer materials such as blocks, tree cooks, recycled bottles, tubes and other loose parts that they can explore. When thinking about how children play remember they learn through hands on experiences and in symbolic play sharing with their friends.
