This module has made me think about different ways I approach culture, race , and language both for myself and with my families. My FCC is not very diverse in cultural differences. As John Nimmo said this means I have to brain storm on ways that I can expose the children in my care to cultural differences to help prepare them for the future life experiences. I will have to look to my community for some examples to share. I will also be sure to incorporate more diverse books and toys in my setting. I have pictures on my walls depicting different ethnic backgrounds but I need to review them to make sure they are not promoting cultural stereotypes. I also need to include more pictures of the children with their families. It’s important for me to remember that bias and differences are not the same. I also have to remember that disabilities fall into this category.
