When selecting and storing toys and materials keep in mind what’s appropriate for what age group. Good toys are well-made, painted with nontoxic and lead-free paint, are shatter-proof and can be easily cleaned.

Watch for children’s interest in the items available to the children. Are they excited or bored with the selection; is it time to rotate and put certain items away for later use. Make sure that there are fun and exciting toys and activities for each age group and that these items are accessible to the children. Make sure that children are aware of quiet times and that interesting quiet materials and toys are available for when other children are napping.
